Dr. Ebroon began his academic journey at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the world’s leading institution for science and engineering. There, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology, graduating in the top 1% of his class.
During his time at MIT, Dr. Ebroon studied under four Nobel Laureates: David Baltimore, Phillip Sharp, Robert Horvitz, and Susumu Tonegawa. His closest collaboration was with Dr. Phillip Sharp, a Nobel Prize winner in Medicine for his groundbreaking work on gene expression. Dr. Sharp became both mentor and faculty advisor to Dr. Ebroon, encouraging him to apply his scientific background to a career in medicine—a pivotal influence for which Dr. Ebroon remains deeply grateful.
Beyond MIT, Dr. Ebroon expanded his clinical exposure by volunteering at Harvard’s Massachusetts General Hospital, where he observed and assisted in early medical cases and attended lectures by Harvard Medical School faculty.
Dr. Ebroon continued his education at Northwestern University Medical School, where he graduated with top honors and was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society recognizing excellence in scholarship and leadership.
He completed an internship in internal medicine followed by a three-year residency in ophthalmology at Northwestern. During this time, he earned distinction for his research on normative eye position, which was recognized as the department’s premier project. He went on to score in the 95th percentile on the American Board of Ophthalmology exams, placing him among the top 5% of ophthalmologists nationwide.
Dr. Ebroon’s interest in the artistic and technical precision of surgery led him to specialize in oculoplastic surgery—focused on reconstructive and aesthetic procedures involving the eyelids and eye sockets. He completed a prestigious fellowship at Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital under Dr. Albert Hornblass, a pioneer in the field. There, he mastered advanced techniques in eyelid surgery, Botox, and dermal fillers. He was subsequently certified by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
After fellowship, Dr. Ebroon returned to Northwestern as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology. He performed surgeries, conducted research, and trained both medical students and residents. As Ophthalmology Residency Program Director, he led the education of all ophthalmology trainees and was honored as Professor of the Year.
Relocating to Southern California, Dr. Ebroon joined the faculty at UCLA’s Jules Stein Eye Institute as a Volunteer Clinical Instructor for a decade. He also serves as President of the Ventura County Ophthalmology Society and is a trusted mentor to other physicians, including dermatologists and plastic surgeons, in advanced cosmetic techniques.
Dr. Ebroon believes that exceptional medical credentials must be paired with compassion, empathy, and the ability to truly listen—qualities he considers essential to the practice of medicine.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Ebroon is a devoted husband and father of three. He enjoys staying active, reading widely, and following professional basketball and football.
